Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of wicks do you use?
I only use cotton, with a paper core, for all my wicks. Rest assured, absolutely no lead (or any other heavy metals for that matter) here!
My soy candle didn't last a long time. What did I do wrong?
- If burning a soy votive, it is especially important to burn it in a holder, as soy wax is a much softer wax. The tighter the fit the longer the burn time.
- Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times.
- Keep it out of drafts to ensure the flame does not get too large.
- The first time you burn your candle, you should burn it long enough so that the melt pool goes as far to the edge of the container as possible - about an hour per inch of the candle's diameter. So for instance, for a three inch round candle, you should burn it for at least three hours. This creates a memory for your candle and ensures it won't tunnel burn
What do you use to scent your candles?
I use essential and natural fragrance oils in all my candles that are formulated for use in soy wax. This ensures my soy candles have a great scent throw. Customers often comment that they all smell very pure and true to form.
A neat trick most people don't know...
When extinguishing a candle, dip the wick into the liquid wax using a non-flammable instrument and pull it back up. This technique eliminates wick residue so all you'll be left with is the great fragrance of your candle!
